Monash Ratepayers Association Editorial Comment.
In previous editions of our website we have expressed concern about cost shifting from State and Federal Governments on to Local Government. The following two articles are specific examples of how the State Government is doing this, and the total ineptitude and disinclination of the Municipal Association of Victoria (the peak body that is supposed to represent the interests of Local Government) and its President Cr Lake (of the Monash City Council) to speak out against it.
We invite the Minister for Local Government, Candy Broad, to respond to these articles. If she does so and/or refutes them, we expect the response to be supported with verifiable data and proof – Not just unsubstantiated statements.
